We are a family-operated homestead located in Culleoka, a small community nestled in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee, about an hour south of Nashville. We purchased our home in Maury county, situated on just under four acres, during the winter of 2015. Since then, we have affectionately referred to it as "a work in progress" with new projects always starting.
To begin with the basics, there are five of us humans here at Sylvan Wind - my husband, Steven, our three sons and myself, Katrina. My husband works outside the homestead, allowing me to focus on managing the home and farm operations, along with homeschooling our boys. We are a happily blended family. My stepson is 18, as is my oldest biological son, and my youngest is 12. To say that things can get a bit loud around here is an understatement, but oh, what adventures we have! In addition to the people on the homestead, we raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, a small dairy breed. Our herd is made up of two wethers, three bucks and 14 does. We are a performance herd, focusing on milk production and show-quality animals. Our herd is disease-tested annually. |
